The Producers: Meet Amanda Susman

1) Who are you? Is this your first time working at Vintage Theatre? What roles/shows might patrons have seen you in previously?

Hi! My name’s Amanda, and this is my FIRST time working with Vintage (omg!!)! I’ve done a few shows with Candlelight in the ensemble (Oklahoma!Anastasia, & Hello, Dolly!) and I’ve performed in the Polar Express show at the Colorado Railroad Museum the last two years.

2) What did you want to be growing up? How close did you get or did it completely change?

Gosh, I never knew what I wanted to be growing up. By the time I was choosing a college major, I knew I liked every subject in school, working with kids, and acting, singing, and dancing, so it was either elementary education or musical theatre. Figuring I could get my teaching license later, I decided to go with musical theatre, and here we are!

3) What is your current dream job?

I’m kinda doing it…plus I work at Trader Joe’s AND get to “hang out with” princesses occasionally! The only thing I could do without is having to coordinate all my schedules…it’s ok, it’s all color-coded.

4) Would you ever want to be a Producer?

I’ll pass…I’d MUCH rather be ON stage doing what I love than coordinating behind the scenes. I was able to help as a producer’s assistant for Theatre Or’s recent production of The Last Yiddish Speaker and enjoyed the work, but I’d probably miss dancing too much to do it long-term!

5) What is your favorite part of the show?
Ooo…probably “I Want to Be a Producer.” There’s always something so fun about those showgirl dances (and I’ve been stretching for it—you’ll see why) and tap has my heart, as the first style of dance I ever taught!
