Vintage Theatre Announces Auditions For The Producers & [title of show]:

Saturday, June 20th and June 27th from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Prepare

16-32 bars of a song that shows you off the best. Please bring sheet music in the

appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

Sign Up

Please sign up for one time slot. Auditioners in each hour will be seen in the order they

arrive. You do not need to stay for the entire hour.

THE PRODUCERS

Directed by Bernie Cardell

Musical Direction by Jerimiah Otto, Choreography by Adrianne Hampton

 

Description of Show

Winner of a Record 12 Tony Awards! Washed up Theatre producer Max Bialystock

and timid account Leo Bloom are polar opposites, but by chance they find it’s more

lucrative to produce a flop than a hit! They scheme to get rich by raising millions of

dollars for a deliberately terrible show and fleeing with the leftover money when it

instantly closes. The joke takes an unexpected turn when the show accidentally

becomes a massive hit!

 

Roles Available 

(all roles are available; no roles have been pre-cast)

MAX BIALYSTOCK (plays 40s and up) A failed Broadway producer

LEO BLOOM (plays late 20s-mid 40s) Account and would-be failing Broadway

producer.

FRANZ LIEBKIND (plays 30s and up) A German playwright.

ROGER DEBRIS (plays 30s and up) A Broadway director

CARMEN GHIA (plays late 20s-20s) Roger’s live in lover and social secretary

ULLA INGA HANSEN BENSON YONSEN TALLEN-HALLEN SVADEN-

SVANSON (plays 20s-30s) An enthusiastic Swedish secretary

ENSEMBLE (of various ages) Accountants, Bavarian Peasants, Convicts, First

Nighters, Little Old Ladies, Storm Troopers, Prisoners, Usherettes and others.

 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals for The Producers will begin Monday, July 20th .

 

Performances 

The Producers will run September 12 th through October 11 th with a possible extension

to October 18 th . Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, and Sundays at 2:30

There will also be a Monday evening Industry Night.

 

Compensation

Cast will receive a $100 travel stipend and $45 per performance.

Description of Show

Jeff and Hunter, two self-confessed nobodies in New York, make a pact: They will write

an original musical and submit it to a festival. The only catch? The deadline is in three

weeks! They gather their two actress friends, Susan and Heidi, and their accompanist

and music director, Larry, on the keys. With the full team assembled, Jeff and Hunter hit

another roadblock-- what should they write about? Jeff and Hunter decide to follow the

old adage, “write what you know,” and set off on a unique musical adventure: writing a

musical about writing a musical!

 

Roles Available

JEFF (late 20s-mid 30s) – musical composer who loves Broadway musicals

HUNTER (late 20s-mid 30s) – a librettist who dreams about making it to Broadway

HEIDI (late 20s-mid 30s) – Jeff’s friend, “uptown and fancy”

SUSAN (late 20s-mid 30s) – Hunter’s friend, “downtown and funky”

 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals for [title of show] will begin Monday, August 3rd 

 

Performances

[title of show] will run September 28 th through October 21 st .

Performances are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 7:30 pm

 

Tour dates pending based on cast/crew availability

 

Compensation

Cast will receive a $100 travel stipend and $65 per performance.

Cast will be paid $100 per tour performance.
